Gestern kam die Bestätigung des Arbeitgebers rein: Ich darf nach meiner Rückkehr meine Arbeitszeit auf 75% verringern, also auf 30 statt 40 Wochenstunden!
Das freut mich sehr, denn genau so wollte ich es haben. Anders wäre es allerdings auch gar nicht gegangen, da wir erst zum 01.01.09 einen Kita-Platz haben und Luise bis dahin selbst betreuen müssen - das schafft man nicht mit zwei Vollzeitstellen.
Deshalb arbeiten auch die allermeisten Eltern kleiner Kinder nur 100-150% der möglichen Arbeitszeit: Entweder Papa Vollzeit und Mama 50%, oder Mama bleibt gleich ganz zu hause. Wir dagegen haben jetzt das Modell Gender Mainstreaming: Beide arbeiten zu 75% und betreuen das Kind gemeinsam.
Dass ich als Mann solch ein Arbeitszeitmodell praktizieren werde ist immer noch extrem exotisch, mindestens so selten wie für fünf Monate oder mehr in Elternzeit zu gehen (und fast so selten wie das Verwenden von Stoffwindeln!), und wie schon bei der Elternzeit kann ich auch hier kaum begreifen warum es so exotisch ist.
Man muss sich das vorstellen: Nach allen gesellschaftlichen Entwicklungen der letzten Jahrzehnte bleiben selbst in den avantgardistischen Berliner Szene-Bezirken ganz überwiegend die Mamis zuhause wenn sie Kinder bekommen, damit Papa schön den ganzen Tag in's Büro gehen kann!
Unglaublich, oder? Ganz abgesehen davon dass ich auch die Papis nicht verstehe - ist so ein Vollzeitjob wirklich das einzig Anstrebenswerte? Ich arbeite auch gerne, und ich liebe meinen aktuellen Job - aber nach 10 (Vollzeit-!) Jahren im Software- und Internet-Business habe ich mich schon manchmal gefragt ob es nicht noch mehr im Leben geben müsste.
Momentan frage ich mich das nicht.

tja, komm du mir mal wieder. das was du früher in 40 H geschafft hast, schaffst du dann sicherlich in 30 H :-)
Und falls du es nicht in 30 Stunden schaffst gibt es ja noch work from home!
